Paris Hilton - Seven Deadly Sins

£250.00Price

A still from One Night in Paris, a sex tape from 2004, featuring 20-year-old Paris Hilton, filmed by her then boyfriend Rick Soloman. Paris Hilton claimed she was ‘out of it’, did not know what she was doing while he was filming and did not approve the film’s public release: "I never received a dime from the video. It's just dirty money and (Salomon) should give it all to some charity for the sexually abused or something.”

Size: Approx. 23cm Diameter

This series of seven plates comes from moments in contemporary culture that have stayed with me - not because they’re shocking, but because of how women are scorned and humiliated - too fat, too thin, too sexual, too demanding, too ambitious, too emotional, too controlled.

Each plate is deliberately voyeuristic and ambiguous; deliberately withholding clarity, I want the viewer to consider their participation and how systemic misogyny has blindsided us into making judgement.

Ceramics will always be a domestic craft. Plates serve us, we eat from them, wash them, and start again. I’m using that familiarity to play with our complicity and our appetite for more.
